XTXS aims to be a comprehensive source of education-related data for use by researchers interested in international comparative work and empirical modeling. XTXS provides:
- Data on a wide array of relevant topic areas, including outcomes of education, educational contexts, and features of economic, social and political contexts that may be of relevance for the study of education systems
- Data for 232 education systems, including the 34 industrialized nations comprising the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and 198 other developed and developing nations (and some subnational jurisdictions) from all regions of the world
- Data going back as far as the 1970s, for some variables, up through the present
- Data from all the major assessments covering 4th grade through adulthood (e.g., PIRLS, TIMSS, PISA, IALS, ALL, and more), as well as from the databases and compilations maintained through the OECD, UNESCO Institute for Statistics, and World Bank
